A real treat for art lovers, 78 items themed ‘Urban Jungle’ have just been added to the LastBid site – but will only be available for a few short days.
The clock is ticking on eye-catching and affordable art, unsold at auction and now offered by LastBid for just one week, from the likes of David Bailey, Marc Chagall, Henry Moore, Joan Miro, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Tracey Moffat – and who could fail to want an archetypal Andy Warhol image of Campbell’s soup cans?
While the choice of artwork is purely subjective, our collective eye was caught by ‘Hope’, a stunning colour lithograph of Barack Obama by Shepard Fairey (estimated at 600-800 GBP), and a vivid screenprint from Howard Hodgkin titled ‘The Road to Rio (not in Heenk)’.
The more affordable lots start at well under 100 GBP, but collectors’ highlights include an untitled work by Robert Longo from the ‘Janet from the Men in the Cities’ series, signed, dated and numbered, at an estimate of 2,000-3,000 GBP.
Or for admirers of the more unusual, there’s ‘A Message from the Sculptors Gilbert & George’ in the form of an embossed card with collage that includes elements of the artists’ make-up, tobacco and ash, hair, clothing and breakfast, accompanied by five small black and white photographs.
